After Week 1, there were two SIAC schools ranked in the NCAA Division II Top 25 poll. Tuskegee earned the #22 ranking after beating FCS rival, Alabama State 14-6 on the road. Albany State earned the #20 ranking after beating #10 Valdosta State 29-12 at home.

This week, both Tuskegee and Albany State will travel to Phenix City, Alabama for the annual White Water Classic. Tuskegee comes into the classic winners of their last five games against Albany State. Despite Tuskegee’s current streak, history suggests the matchup between these schools will still be close. Tuskegee narrowly leads in the all-time series with a  23-19-1 record over Albany.

Both defenses were dominant in Week 1. Tuskegee held Alabama State scoreless until 1:16 left in the fourth quarter. The Albany State defense held Valdosta scoreless for the first three quarters. They entered into to the fourth quarter with a 23-0.

Offense will be the key to victory for both teams. Whichever team limits turnovers and is able to sustain offensive drives will likely come out on top.

The White Water Classic will stream live September 9th on ESPN 3 at 5:30pm.
