Howard begins MEAC conference play hosting the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats. Both teams enter today’s contest with 1-2 records and will be battling to start conference play with a victory.
Howard secured their lone win with one of the biggest upsets in college football history. The Bison were 45 point underdogs on the road against UNLV, yet still won 43-40. Freshman quarterback, Caylin Newton, put the nation on notice racking up 330 total yards and three touchdowns.
Newton and the top ranked Bison rushing attack will finally be on full display for the hometown fans. Howard Athletics has dubbed today’s game “Community Day” and will be giving away 1000 tickets to students.
The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats will be rolling into Greene Stadium with a ton of confidence. The Wildcats have dominated their matchup against Howard in recent history. Bethune-Cookman are winners of their last six games against Howard. In fact, the Wildcats haven’t lost at Greene Stadium since 1996!
The Wildcat defense will rely heavily on Junior linebacker Marquis Hendrix and Senior safety Diquan Richardson. Hendrix led the Wildcats with 10 tackles last game and Richardson has two interceptions in his last two games.
