Battle of the Unbeatens: #14 Bowie State takes on Virginia State

For the past few seasons Bowie State and Virginia State have been the class of the CIAA North Division and this year is no different. Both teams head into Saturday’s matchup undefeated and a week removed from dominant victories over other CIAA North opponents. A lot is at stake; this game will likely determine the division winner and have CIAA championship implications.

Bowie State will try to spoil Virginia State’s homecoming with their third straight victory over the Trojans. The Bulldogs are ranked 14th in the nation and have the top ranked offense in the CIAA. Quarterback Amir Hall has been dominating defenses all season long. Hall is completing 70.3% of his passes is averaging 330.5 yards per game.

Virginia State is coming off a 56-0 road victory over Elizabeth City State. The Trojans have one of the most potent rushing attacks in the CIAA. Trenton Cannon leads the CIAA with 125.8 rushing yards per game and six rushing touchdowns.

Saturday’s game will be televised on the Aspire Network. Coverage begins at 2pm.
