WILBERFORCE, Ohio – After a nine-day layoff since their last game, the Central State Lady Marauders defeated Miles College, 71-53, on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, CSU improves to 13-3 overall with a SIAC leading 8-1 record. Miles dropped to 4-9 on the year with a 2-4 ledger in conference play.
Miles kept the game close early on as the teams played to 17-17 tie at the end of the first quarter. CSU’s defense tighten up, holding the Golden Bears to just 5 points in the second quarter as the Lady Marauders took a 30-22 lead at the intermission.
By the midway point of the third quarter, CSU was in full control. Brooke Spaulding knocked down a three-pointer at the 4:06 mark to give her team its largest lead of the night, 56-31. CSU maintained a 20-point margin entering the final quarter of play and cruised to their fourth straight win.
CSU forced 21 turnovers and held a 27-7 edge in points scored off of Miles giveaways.
Spaulding finished with a game-high 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Sierra Harley scored 19 points and a game-high 4 steals. Falon Edwards chipped in with 10 points.
Jasmine Hollis paced Miles with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
CSU continues conference play at home on Monday against Tuskegee at 5:30 pm

CSU is currently ranked No. 10 in the D2SIDA South Region Poll.
CSU leads the SIAC in scoring (80.5 ppg), assists (15.9 apg), offensive rebounding (18.8 orpg) and steals (14.1 spg).
CSU currently leads the SIAC West Division by 3 games.
Brooke Spaulding has stepped up in the absence of leading scorer Takyra Gilbert. Since the Gilbert injury (Dec. 16), Spaulding is averaging 17.3 ppg.
