The Spirit of America Bowl was founded in 2016 by Cutting Edge Sport Management and serves as a national HBCU football All-Star Game. The Spirit Bowl consists of top athletes from the 53 football programs across the nation. The goal of the HBCU Spirit of America Bowl is to “raise social awareness and offer career opportunities on and off the field through sport and competition.”
Athletes selected for the HBCU Spirit Bowl of America are divided into two teams; Team Brave and Team Pride. During the weekend, athletes participate in an All-Star Game, NFL/CFL style combine, Sports Award Banquet, and Career Fair. Last year, 11 professional scouts attended the game. (Five NFL, Five CFL, and One Global). One participant, Jylan Ware, was drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders.
