Radford, VA | Anything can happen in March, just ask Radford. Going into last night’s game, the Radford Highlanders were the top seeded team in the Big South Tournament with a 21-10 record on the year.
The fifth seeded Hampton Pirates were anything but intimidated. Many players on this roster built their playoff poise last year helping Hampton advance to the 2019 CIT Final Four. Senior guard, Jermaine Marrow was one of those players.
Marrow dominated Radford with a record setting 36 points and 10 assists. According to ESPN college basketball insider, Jeff Borzello, Hampton’s Jermaine Marrow is the first player with at least 35 points and at 10 assists in ANY conference tournament in the past 20 years!
Marrow wasn’t the only Pirate to step his game up. 6’6 foward, Ben Stanley poured in 26 points and seven rebounds.
The Pirates have advanced to the Big South Tournament Championship game against Winthrop. The game will take place on Sunday at 1pm on ESPN. If Hampton can keep up their late season surge and win the title, they will earn a birth into the 2020 NCAA Tournament.
