Atlanta, GA | Earlier today, the rumors of the SIAC cancelling their upcoming fall seasons grew so loud on social media, the conference was forced to issue an official statement.
This speculation should come as no surprise. Morehouse College made national headlines when they decided to cancel the 2020 football season citing student safety concerns. Fans naturally began to wonder if their school would be next.
SIAC members Albany State, Morehouse, Clark-Atlanta, Fort Valley, and Savannah State are all located in Georgia where the CDC has confirmed 16,562 new cases of COVID-19 this week alone. Having the students play in these conditions poses obvious health risks.
Given this information, it would be reasonable to assume that the SIAC will be cancelling all fall sports in the near future. However today the SIAC league office temporarily reassured fans with the following statement:
